April 17th, 1955
After the war, I continued to work on many subjects of the theory of general relativity, such as wormholes, the possibility of time travel, the existence of black holes, and the creation of the universe. However, I became increasingly isolated from the rest of the physics community. On April 17, 1955, while working on a speech I was preparing to memorialize Israel's seventh anniversary, I suffered an abdominal aortic aneurysm and experienced internal bleeding. I was taken to the University Medical Center at Princeton for treatment, but I decided to refuse surgery. I believe that I have lived my life enough and now is the time to accept my fate. I said that I want to go whenever I want. I believe that it is tasteless to try to live more artificially. I have done my share, I have helped people and found great things, achieved great things, and it is time to go. I will do it elegantly.
